Laser Hair Removal in Merchant City, Glasgow

Let’s talk about our fantastic Laser Hair Removal treatment we offer at our modern clinic in Glasgow. For the lucky few a weekly shave or epilation is all it takes to keep leg, armpit and bikini area hair at bay.

For the rest of us, however it is a daily toil to keep embarrassing body hair at bay. The associated costs with this; shaving gel, moisturiser, razors, exfoliating products etc, is also very costly.

Luckily Ever Clinic in Glasgow offers the Gmax Pro laser machine, the ‘gold standard’ of high-quality laser; offering multiple options and services to allow the most effective laser treatment for your skin and hair type. This will save you time and money and afford you the freedom the wear what you want and when you want. The Gmax Pro is the preferred laser of the NHS and Ever Clinic is proud to be able to offer laser hair removal in Glasgow using the Gmax Pro. We are the only clinic on the West Coast to have one.

The world of laser hair removal can be a daunting one when making enquiries – there seem to be so many options and clinics in Glasgow to choose from! Some clinics use IPL which is a lot less effective and can still be pricey. You want to make sure you choose the right Glasgow clinic so you don’t waste money on ineffective treatment.

Here’s the science bit! – IPL (intense pulsed light) uses a flash-lamp and filters with the result that the light is much less intense and is, therefore, less effective. Alexandrite and Nd:YAG lasers offer the gold standard in hair removal for fair and dark skin respectively. These specialist ‘real laser’ wavelengths target the melanin in the hair and destroy the follicle to ensure that hair regrowth does not occur. At Ever Clinic, we have adopted the best so we can give you the very best in terms of outcome.

The combination of Alexandrite and Nd:YAG laser means that this machine can be used on all skin types, however the laser works best on those with light skin and dark hair. Unfortunately, laser hair removal does not work on blonde hair so if in doubt come in for a consultation and check how suitable you are.

FAQ’s About Laser Hair Removal

Does laser hair removal hurt?

Here at Ever Clinic, we try and make this treatment as pain-free as we possibly can. During this treatment, mild discomfort may be felt and it may feel like your skin is being snapped with a rubber hand. The amount of pain experienced will vary depending on factors such as the part of the body that’s undergoing the treatment and the sensitivity of the skin.

Are there any side effects of laser hair removal?

For most patients who undergo laser hair removal in Glasgow, side effects will be very mild. One of the main side effects is mild swelling around the hair follicles. Other mild side effects may include redness of the skin, temporary irritation and temporary pigment changes. Prior to treatment, our professionals will take you through the full list of potential side effects.

How permanent is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal treatments are highly effective. However, they are NOT a permanent solution for hair removal. Depending on the patient, laser hair removal can last anywhere from 18 months up to two years. This treatment works by heating the hair follicles to prevent new hair from growing.

Does laser hair removal have long term side effects?

At Ever Clinic, patient safety is highly important to us and is never compromised. We would never offer any treatments that result in long-term side effects and laser hair removal certainly falls under this category. Although minor side-effects can be apparent after treatment, there are no long-term health risks associated with this treatment.

Can laser hair removal cause more hair growth?

No. Laser hair removal treatments we offer at our clinic in Glasgow will NOT cause more hair growth. However, do you need to remember that this treatment is only semi permanent and not a long-lasting solution.

Wax vs Laser Hair Removal - Which is Better?

When it comes to deciding between waxing vs laser hair removal, there are a few factors to consider.  Firstly, waxing has to be done regularly and can cause damage to the skin over long period of times.  This is because it can lead to the lightening and darkening of the skin that can potentially lead to scarring.  When you choose laser hair removal, you’ll be choosing a treatment that’s much more long-lasting and one that doesn’t cause any detrimental effects to the skin!

Is Laser Hair Removal Suitable For Men?

Yes.  If you’re a man look for a better and more permanent hair removal treatment, laser hair removal is also for you.  Laser hair removal is not just for women.  In fact, it can be very beneficial for men as it can be used to treat more areas of the face and body including the chest, stomach and back.   With this treatment, regrowth is minimal and reduced by up to 90%!

How Should I Prepare?

When it comes to preparing for this treatment, Dr Cormac and our medical practitioners will give you all the advice you require when we meet for our initial consultation.  We’ll tailor you preparation for you individually and give you step by step instructions on how best to prepare.  We generally advice patients to avoid lengthy and direct sun exposure up to 4 weeks before treatment and recommend removing any fake or spray tan before treatment.

Further recommendations include:

  • Avoid chemical peels.
  • Avoid waxing 6 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Ensure specific area to be treatment is clean.
  • Exfoliate where possible.
Where Can I Have Hair Removed?

The fantastic thing about laser hair removal is the fact that it can be performed almost anywhere on the body and still be highly effective.  This is why it’s highly recommended for BOTH men and women looking to significantly reduce hair growth and regrowth.  As well as the standard areas on the body we can treat such as the back, shoulder blades and upper arms, we can also treat the following:

  • Underarms.
  • Jawline.
  • Cheek bones.
  • Half face.
  • Full face.
  • Chin.
How Long Does It Take To See Results?

Seeing the results of laser hair removal in Glasgow can vary from patient to patient and depends on a few important variable and individual factors such as the amount of treatments performed.  You’ll be able to see some instant results after your first treatment and enjoy smooth skin.  However, for final and long-lasting results, this may take a little longer and takes a few months after completed sessions are scheduled and performed.  For further information on this, please contact us today.

Am I suitable for treatment?

This is a common question that we’re asked regularly.  Generally speaking, the best results are achieved in people with pale skin and dark hair.  This is because dark hair has more pigment and therefore it’s much easier to target during laser hair removal.  To sum up, people with thick, coarse and dark hair are the best candidates for this treatment.  Pale skin is also easier to treat.  However, we have specific laser for patients with darker skin so they can still be treated successfully.

What should I do after treatment?

Here at Ever Clinic, you’ll receive all pre and aftercare instructions in the initial consultation at our clinic and we’ll make sure that everything is clear.  We recommend protecting your skin after and in between sessions as a priority.  To do this, avoid exposing skin to UV light – which includes sunbeds – for at least two weeks and avoid shaving the treated area for at least 72 hours after treatment.  Furthermore, we also recommend avoiding hot baths and showers for up to 48 hour after laser hair removal in Glasgow.

How many treatments will I need?

It can vary from patient too patient in regards to how many laser hair removal treatments are required to get the most out of the procedure.  The average number is between 4-6 laser hair removal sessions to achieve maximum results.  It should be noted that laser hair removal is not permanent and follow-up sessions are imperative.  After each session, you’re likely to see fewer hairs on the treated areas but expect the best results after 4-6 sessions with us.

Is laser hair removal painful?

During laser hair removal sessions, you may experience mild discomfort from laser beams that are used to target hair follicles.  However, our team will offer proven ways to minimise any potential mild pain and help you get as a comfortable as possible before the treatment.  We may provide you with a numbing cream that’s applied to your skin prior to the procedure.

What technology/equipment is used to perform the treatment?

Here at Ever Clinic, we only use industry-leading equipment that is approved and provides the best results for our patients.  We use the Gmax Pro laser machine that is referred to as the ‘gold standard’ of high-quality laser.  The Gmax Pro laser machine offers multiple options and services to allows the most effective laser treatment for your skin and is often preferred to the NHS laser machine by dozens of clinics across the country.
